The Materials
Here at Hide & Haunch we use only the best materials to craft our products, enabling us to create a high quality product which we feel will last you a life time. All of our products are made from full grain vegetable tanned leather and durable waxed poly thread.
We strongly believe that less is more in creating a quality long lasting product, so you will never find materials such as cloth being used in our craft.
The Leather
All of our products are currently made with first grade vegetable tanned leather sourced directly from our UK supplier. Every hide has naturally occurring variations in texture and colour. These characteristics contribute to the unique appearance of every leather item.
Vegetable Tanned leather is most famous for its remarkable ageing process. Over time it will darken and develop a glazed surface known as a patina unique to its owner. Upon receiving your order, the leather might be firm and rugged, but like a decent pair of shoes, it needs to be broken in first.
The Thread
Our thread options are an extremely durable waxed polyester. While not as traditional as using linen, we’ve prioritised longevity over tradition. Our polyester thread has high strength, mildew resistance, rot resistance and UV protection, helping it retain its strength and colour better.
